Tasks of school health
The EÜ. According to the legal regulation, based on the NM Decree 26/1997(IX.3.), children in school participate in a general medical examination every two years as part of their health care, and in the following basic screening examinations by the health visitor every year:
- physical development (weight, length, chest circumference)
- psychomotor, mental, social development,
- functioning of the sensory organs (visual acuity, color vision, hearing), every two years
- screening of the musculoskeletal system (crow's feet, spinal changes),
- goiter screening,
- blood pressure measurement.
We will send you information about the date of the screenings, and we will provide feedback on the results (if we detect any deviations) in oral or written form. For a specialist examination, a referral from the family pediatrician is required.
Furthermore:
- continuous monitoring and registration of students' personal hygiene, physical and mental development, for which we request the health status certificate. to send us certificates, exemptions and specialist opinions (if your child has any changes in his/her condition that need to be monitored or is being treated with medication);
- students in the 6th and 7th grades receive vaccinations as part of a vaccination campaign, about which a written information sheet is sent out;
- we help the lifestyle of chronically ill people and those struggling with behavioral disorders;
- we participate in health education (primarily in the following topics: teaching basic health-related knowledge, personal hygiene, healthy lifestyle, patient care, first aid, family planning, parenting, infant care, prevention of addictive diseases);
- we check the hygiene of physical education, therapeutic physical education, technology classes, school premises and environment, as well as the catering;
- if necessary, we inform about the forms and opportunities of state, civil charitable family support;
- we notify the child welfare service and the family doctor, or we initiate official proceedings in the event of child abuse, serious neglect, self-inflicted serious endangerment of the child, or other serious endangerment.
